Airalo - International eSIM Provider
🔓 Unlock Seamless Connectivity with Airlo eSIM: ✈️📲 Your Travel Companion for Affordable Data Access 🌍
When traveling internationally, staying connected while on the go can prove to be an expensive and frustrating experience, especially when relying on traditional roaming services from your carrier like AT&T (this is the part where everyone who has T-Mobile tells me how great and inexpensive their roaming services are - that’s great, I don’t use or plan to switch to T-Mobile though, and I don’t like the color Pink).
Enter Airlo, an innovative eSIM provider that offers a cost-effective and convenient alternative for international travelers seeking a hassle-free data access solution.
I have used Airlo when visiting a few countries of late:
Cayman Islands
London, Dublin and Belgrade
For the Cayman Islands, I purchased a country pack that is locked to that country. It was a few dollars for a few gigabytes. I also purchased these for each kid. Since I use AT&T the daily cost to roam is:
$10 per day for the primary line
$5 per day for each additional line on the account
So, $20 per day for 7 days or $140 dollars. Airalo costs less than $30 for the week.
For my trip to Europe, I purchased a regional pack that works in thirty-nine countries. 5GB was $20 and I only used half of it.
If you run out of data, you can always purchase a “top-up”
What is an eSIM?
First, we need to discuss what an eSIM is. You are probably familiar with those tiny SIM cards we have inserted into our phones for years. Well, a few years ago we started the move to electronic versions. The iPhone 14 allows you to have up to eight eSIMs installed on your phone with two lines active at any time.
The benefit is that you can do this on your phone all with an app, before traveling to your destination. No need to purchase a SIM card at the airport or train station when you arrive.
Adding an eSIM to the iPhone is super easy. I have two that are always active:
AT&T - my primary carrier
US Mobile - an MVNO* that uses Verizon and T-Mobile, is my backup eSIM that is always active so when I have a coverage problem with AT&T this eSIM is used for data. US Mobile is $8/month for 500MB of data.
The benefit to my home setup is that I have three different carriers all active at once to provide seamless data. Verizon does in fact work very well in places where AT&T has coverage gaps.
*An MVNO, or Mobile Virtual Network Operator, is a wireless communications service provider that does not own its own network infrastructure. Instead, MVNOs lease or purchase network capacity from larger mobile network operators (MNOs) to provide services to their customers.

Oh that is awesome, thank you! We got stung by at&t despite having their day-pass enabled and my disabling roaming when we didn't need it. I wonder how frequently tethering is supported, they are a little vague on that, probably down to the local operator's decision.
Thanks, Omar! I have been wondering what the best eSIM option were! We downloaded the TMobile pre-paid eSIM app to use at Stevens Pass (as Verizon's network gets overloaded there on weekends) and it worked well - but we looking for international solutions like this. Thanks!
