Parachute Sateen Linens
Each of you spends probably a third of each day in bed. As you can guess, I spend a fair amount of time researching (and now enjoying) fine linens.
You don't have to spend a fortune on sheets (but you can) and for a long time now (15 years I guess) I have enjoyed what I consider a good investment in sleeping.
I replace my sheets about every 5 years. I have two sets and we alternate between them each week.
I have settled on Sateen sheets made of Egyptian cotton. If you are a linen nerd you might care to understand the differences between Sateen and Percale (the two most common types of weaves) and if that's the case read this article on the Parachute blog. And if you are interested in what thread count means.
I'll make it simple. Sateen appears a bit shiny at first and gets softer and more "dull" or normal looking over time as you wash and use it.
The main feature / benefit to Sateen in my opinion is that it resists wrinkling.
Percale on the other hand looks amazing when it's pressed and very wrinkly when it's used.
The only difference is the weave!
A few weeks ago, a friend of mine introduced me to Parachute. They are a small company that produces incredibly affordable long staple Egyptian cotton sheets in some beautiful and simple colors.
We used this moment to replace our son's sheets. We have a simple formula in the Shahine house for sheets:
Two casper pillows per person
One duvet (either wool or synthetic)
One duvet cover
One fitted sheet
We do not use a top sheet. Never have. This keeps bed making simple and washing simpler.
Parachute has a set that includes the above (and I recommend their Duvets too)! I love that their pillow cases are envelope close (so nice and tidy) and their duvet covers and duvets have ties to just one end so you know what end goes where.
The sheets come in 6 tasteful colors.
Parachute has incredible customer service. They have a 60 day no questions asked return policy. In fact I messed up and ordered (and washed) the wrong color and they took them back and replaced with the right one. They offer free shipping and you can even use Apple Pay to checkout quickly and get your sheets in no time.
